Hygiene standards need improvement

Very unfortunate to see the situation in countries like Italy but my experience when I went there was of poor hygiene facilities in public and private places.. Toilets with no seats, looking like they were rarely cleaned.
After COVID, I really hope the world wakes up to the need to invest money in good public and private toilet facilities .........and people to clean them, as well as education that the basic things in life ARE important!
Modern culture almost seems to be in denial that people need to pee and poo! Such toilet facilities are surely a reflection of that.
Airport standard might be a bit much to ask everywhere you go, but the technology DOES exist. In 2020, you don't need to turn a tap potentially contaminating your fingers again after just washing them....
Two years I was in Cambridge, a city with more tourists and money than many places. They've spent huge amounts on cycle ways and other infrastructure projects to try and support expansion that is beyond the financial means of many. You can go to one of the popular parks to enjoy sitting on the grass listening to a jazz band while having a picnic or enjoying an ice cream but frankly the public toilet facilities are a disgrace! They should be state of the art not as old as the buildings people come to see from around the world!
Even in the shopping centre that was built newly a few years ago, I only recall there being one toilet on the top floor! What does that say about priorities? How is that helping people?
If you want visitors to feel relaxed and have an all-round memorable experience, NOT pass on viruses BUT tell others about their positive experience, invest in modern, efficient toilet facilities.
