Yukiko informed us that the Emperor may step down in 2019. The current era is known as 'heisei', which is translated as 'peace everywhere', but what should a new era be named, do you think?
How suitable is the heir apparent to the Chrysanthemum Throne, Crown Prince Naruhito, for the role of Emperor? Do you know what number Emperor will he be?

Can you remember back to your elementary school days? Just how far can you go back?
My earliest memories are from when I was about 4 years of age. Going to the shops and coming home to see the clock time had not changed. I couldn't understand that the battery had died.. Remembering the telephone engineer coming to install our first telephone. Cold nights spent waiting on Sheep Street for a bus to take us home from my grandad's house. Just some memories I can recall if I think hard. To answer the question on the card, three people spring to mind; Mark, (another) Mark and Martin. How about you? What interests did you share? I would like to say a big 'thank you' to all our customers for your support in this our first year.
January sees the release of new levels and more packs for existing levels as we give you the opportunity to enjoy more fun conversation with your students and friends. The topics are great as short time fillers or assignment topics to send students away to research for the next lesson. Here is one more to finish the year off. From the Business Starter pack, I ask you about the aspect of your job that you like most. Is it that you enjoy seeing your customers going away satisfied, or that you enjoy resolving difficult problems. Is it the friendship of your work colleagues or the environment and rewards you get at your workplace? In January, talk with your colleagues about what motivates you to do your best at work....in English, of course. Looking forward to the start of the New Year! Paul ....in this case, 'buy'.
I can list a number of things that we could get for our home, such as new windows for better heat and sound insulation. A new kitchen, too! How about you? What are the priorities in your life? #英語ゲーム Additional packs, new levels and improved designs! Now 9 to choose from!

Over 600 packs sold in only four months! Five new titles and version 2's of the original four sets will be available in late December, so check back soon at www.quizme.jp or paulsenglishgames.com Better still, subscribe for Quiz Me! updates at http://www.paulsenglishgames.com/subscribe-to-updates.html Remember that well known catchphrase, 'Speak freely with Quiz Me!....ly' #英語ゲーム Personally, I love being outside getting exercise and fresh air! Having a garden in which to be creative with design and growing plants makes for a sense of achievement.
I don't even mind if it rains as it calms the spirit, I think. At least, I like to be able to see the environment and weather outside. Which is your choice when you have time? #英語ゲーム From the Business English Starter pack, I chose 'What is the dress code at your workplace?'
I used to wear a collar and tie at my workplace in the UK, but here in Japan I usually wear trousers and a work shirt, which might be know as a business shirt or white shirt. Jeans are inappropriate on a day when I am working, but acceptable if I am at work but not teaching. That's the code we have. How about at the place you work? #英語ゲーム I had been trying to think of a memorable catchphrase for Quiz Me! Conversation cards without great success, until it suddenly came to me as I was driving home the other night,
Here it is on my new business card in the picture. I wanted it to rhyme, but not only that, also to be a little humourous at the same time. What do you think? #英語ゲーム "It is by chance that we met, but by choice that we became good friends." so the wise saying goes. Have you met anyone at any time in your life whom you developed a great friendship with; someone you think was to be an important influence on your life even? There was the business owner, Simon, who noticed my desperate appeal for a job and called me to offer one just when it seemed like I had no other option but to return to my home town. Our work relationship continued happily for many years after that. At day release business college, I was to meet another friend, Phil, with whom I have remained firm friends even though we have both since left our hometown area to live in very different places. Tell us a story of someone you grew to know, like and trust. #英語ゲーム Hi!
A fun new board game will be available shortly for use with 2 or more packs of Quiz Me! Conversation cards. Watch out for it at www.englishbooks.jp It is a game of luck that is determined by the roll of a dice and not the level of students English so mixed level groups can have fun together. The board can be used with up to 4 packs of any type. I recommend using at least 2 packs. Simply roll a dice and move around the board asking questions of other players before returning to your starting square. The winner is the player who gets back first. Keep watching! #英語ゲーム Today, Shoko recalled a radio programme in which there was a story of a flight from Fukuoka to Haneda, which had to return to the airport building from the taxi-way when it was discovered that there was one more passenger than seats !
It seems to have been a mix of human and computer error, in which one seat was booked for two people, as it turns out a father and son. Have you ever been stopped at the airport, and why? Was it a simple or difficult issue to resolve? #英語ゲーム At the bottom of the card, there is a useful tip for Apple device users.
If you want daily speaking practice to refine your pronunciation and improve your listening, why not talk to Siri? He or she, depending on which voice you choose, will try to provide answers to questions you give in any language you set. Siri doesn't have a great sense of humour and doesn't answer 'personal' questions with much information, but I'm sure you can benefit from trying to communicate with it... him....her......whichever.. Try asking the question on this card. #英語ゲーム Shogo posed an interesting question at lunchtime when he asked whether we knew what caused nosebleeds. He thinks it is down to drinking coffee.
What do you think? Have you ever experienced nosebleeds? More than a full house this morning as many students who had been absent recently returned to tell their stories.
Naoki started by telling us about his recent flight from Haneda which returned to the airport due to an engine shutdown. Have you felt nervous or excited about something recently? One of my students paid her monthly fee for lessons as usual, but when I checked the fee envelope there was an extra penny inside.
What would you do with it? What about if it was the next largest coin, or the one after that? This topic and many more problems await you in the new Dilemmas pack available later this year. To help you get the best from your Quiz Me! cards, look out for tips on how to use them, topic examples and other useful information.
